Seattle alternative hip-hop artist Michael S. Martinez (aka Onry Ozzborn) has just released his new album DUO this month (April), and I'd have to say that it's one of his best. All of DUO's 16 tracks feature a guest collaborator/vocalist, including Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic, Sadistik, P.O.S., Kimya Dawson, etc. DUO has to be one of the best collaborative and most eclectic alternative hip-hop albums in quite some time, if not ever.
In many ways DUO proves that it is more than just a collection of collaborations; it is a complete work of art. DUO features recognizable names on the producer end as well, including SmokeM2D6, Void Pedal, Latrell James, and Jack Rylands.
This latest effort is full of ambition, and even has a 15 minute mini-movie featuring clips from each track. Few songs in Onry Ozzborn's library are solo pieces, but he tends to share the limelight well, and most definitely on DUO.
